Our Architectural Permit Drawings Process

Every home renovation starts with understanding your property’s zoning rules and local bylaws. This can include height limitations, square footage requirements or restrictions, and usage regulations. Before designing a floor plan, survey engineers will map out your site/lot. They may use laser technology to get an accurate representation of the land and review city records. This will help create a precise map of your building site while noting the terrain, existing structures, greenery, and potential obstacles. Lot surveys are extremely important to developing a floor plan that maximizes natural light, views, energy efficiency, and privacy while accommodating existing site features.

Creating a customized floor plan involves close collaboration between you and the Astaneh Construction design team. You’ll work together, sharing ideas, discussing personal preferences, and going over your needs. Based on this information and the site’s requirements, the design team will create a unique and suitable layout. If any aspect of the plan requires adjustments for improved functionality or regulatory compliance, we’ll provide alternative designs and work closely with you until the perfect floor plan is finalized.

After finalizing the floor plan, we’ll begin the development of the building permit drawings required to submit to the city as part of the building permit application. We’ll create elevation drawings, which provide the horizontal and vertical views, in addition to the floor plan, which provides an overhead view. Drawings will have accurate measurements for all separate components, such as the doors, walls, roof, and/or windows. Our architects will also collaborate with you to finalize the exterior style and material choices.

We now have all the required drawings for the permit applications which our team can submit on your behalf. However, the design phase isn’t complete just yet.
